The new Volvo XC40 is attracting a lot of attention in the luxury SUV market. It's part of a set of new luxury SUV models Volvo has recently added to their lineup to critical acclaim. The XC40 is the perfect family car if you live near Edison, and you are looking for something with luxury comfort, safety, and tech but at a more approachable price than other SUVs with the same quality. The new XC40 is a refreshing drive and ideal for commuting, errands, and long road trips.

Performance

You have a choice of two engines in the new XC40, and both deliver excellent performance around Piscataway. The standard engine is rated for 187 horsepower, and there's an upgrade rated for 248 horsepower. Both are V4 with a turbocharger, so they have a similar profile-- the upgrade is faster to accelerate. Each one will feel powerful in the subcompact frame of the XC40, whether it's overtaking cars on the highway or picking up speed after a red light. The base engine makes 23 MPG in city driving and 33 on highways, and the upgrade engine is 1 MPG lower in both respects.

Trims

There are three trims for the XC40. With each, the base version is the T4 variant. The T5 variant is an upgrade that adds on the 248-horsepower engine as well as all-wheel drive.

The first trim is the Momentum. It has many standard features, which is a big part of what makes the XC40 such good value-- you don't need to buy a higher trim to get access to the vehicle's best. The Momentum has a mix of cloth and leather on the interior, including leather wrapping on the steering wheel. A nine-inch touchscreen controls the tech, including smartphone connectivity, HD and satellite radio, the climate controls, and the rest of the onboard technology. There's plenty of safety tech like forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. Upgrades include full leather on the interior plus packages for more tech, sound upgrades, automation, comfort features, and more cameras. You can pick and choose what you think you need in New Brunswick on top of an already impressive feature set. The second trim is the R-Design. It rolls in some of the packages and features that were optional on the Momentum and adds navigation, a moonroof, and a new style. It would be a good value if you wanted the included extra features. The last trim is the Inscription. It's a lot like the R-Design but adds on a few more exclusive design elements like a crystal knob for the shifter.

Safety and Technology

The XC40 has all the cutting-edge automation and safety tools that you would expect from a luxury vehicle in the Staten Island area. It has multiple warning systems for surrounding traffic, plus a rear camera for parking and backing up, which all come standard. Some upgrades and packages give it more tech, the most notable of which is probably adaptive cruise control.

Features

The XC40 has an appealing array of features, from its comfortable seating and interior to the easy to use infotainment system. It has USB ports for charging, its own Wi-Fi hot spot, a power liftgate for the trunk, and all of its tech. The Convenience package and the R-Design and Inscription trims have useful extras for the interior like a removable floor in the trunk and power-folding headrests.
